2014-2015
Edinburgh University Formula Student (EUFS) was founded in 2014 with 10 core members. In our first year, we entered a Class 2 conception that would lead on to our first Class 1 entrance.
2015-2016
In the 2015/2016 season, EUFS produced our first car and competed at FSUK 2016 in class 1. An issue with an engine sensor meant we weren’t allowed to compete, however, this didn’t dampen our spirits and we were awarded the “Spirit of Formula Student” award.
Our FS Team came 90th with 109.1 Points.
2016-2017
In the 2016/2017 season, EUFS entered our 2nd car into FSUK 2017. We competed in all dynamic and static events.
Our FS Team came 55th with 111.8 Points.
2017-2018
FS Team
In the 2017/2018 season, EUFS entered our 3rd car into FSUK 2018. We completed all dynamic and static events. Finishing in the top 20 UK teams.
Our FS Team came 38th with 214.4 Points.
Driverless Team
Entered the new Dynamic Driving Tasks (DDT) class, a software-only autonomous division.
Our Driverless Team won the overall DDT class.
2018-2019
FS Team
In the 2018/2019 season, EUFS entered our 4th car into FSUK 2019. Unfortunately, we had engine issues during endurance so we were unable to complete all the dynamic events.
Our FS Team came 44th with 145.9 Points.
Driverless Team
The Driverless Team continued to develop the software further for the DDT class and began the development of our Autonomous Driving System (ADS).
Our Driverless Team won the DDT class for the second year running.
2019-2020
Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic FSUK was held online and based on static events only. To the left, you can see the renders of our first ADS car and our 5th IC car. The Driverless Team worked hard on developing their EV powertrain whilst the FS Team worked hard on optimizing components to decrease weight across the whole car.
Our FS Team came 37th with 192.5 Points.
Our Driverless Team won the overall ADS Class.
2020-2021
FS Team
Despite the lasting effects of COVID-19 our FS Team was able to manufacture and compete with our 6th IC Car. The team maximized the time spent under lockdown to focus on the statics events, an area we had previously neglected. Unfortunately, we had engine issues at competition and couldn’t compete in any dynamic events.
Our FS-Team came 21st with 250.2 Points, the best result to date.
Driverless Team
Our Driverless Team entered the United Kingdoms’ first ADS car at FSUK 21.
Our Driverless Team won the overall ADS Class for the second year running.
2021-2022
FS Team
Our FS Team entered its 7th IC car however due to mechanical issues with the powertrain we placed 34th overall.
Driverless Team
Our Driverless Team entered for the first time a fully autonomous electric ADS Car. This was a very ambitious endeavor and we did not enter into any dynamic events. Instead it took part in static events which provided key feedback for us to improve our design for the next year.
We also Won for the 5th year running the FS-AI Class with our class leading software using the Imeche provided ADS-DV Car in a number of dynamic events.
2022-2023
FS Team
The FS Team entered the statics and FS Concept Class this year due to a lot of resources being allocated to the ADS car. Nonetheless, the design and brand new chassis, purpose built to house a new EV powertrain for next year was evaluated and a great deal of feedback was provided. The FS Team placed 21st in the Concept Class, but we look forward to seeing the final product out on track next year!
Driverless Team
The Driverless Team entered our first fully autonomous ADS-EV car into the competition. Despite our incredible hard work to get the powertrain done and ready to go by competition, the car did not pass the scrutineering stages. However we gained valuable feedback that we look forward to applying to next year’s car.
The team for the 6th year in a row, topped the leaderboard and won the FS-AI Class! Huge congratulations to the whole team.
